In his homily at Casa Santa Marta, the Pope said that christians don’t need a horoscope or a crystal ball to know your future, and that should go through life open to the surprises of the Lord, whether good or bad.
FRANCISCO
«The journey begins every day in the morning; the way of entrusting yourself to the Lord, the way open to the surprises of the Lord, many times not good, many bad, let’s think of a disease, in a death but open, because I know that Thou shalt bring it to a safe place, to a land which Thou hast prepared for me: that is to say, the man on the way, the man who lives in a tent, a tent a spiritual».
He concluded by saying that the life of a christian is in the background simple: «Trust in God and in others.»

«To be a christian is always this dimension of spoil that finds its fulfillment in the shedding of Jesus on the Cross. There is always a «go», «leave», to take the first step: «Stop and get out of your country, from your kindred, from your father’s house». If we do a little bit of memory we would see that in the Gospels it is the vocation of the disciples is a «go», «leave» and «come». Also in the prophets, isn’t it? Think of Elisha, working the land: «Leave and come». «…But at least, let me say hello to my parents»… «But, go and come back». «Leave and come».
«The christian does not have a horoscope to see the future; it’s not going to see the necromancer that has a glass sphere, and you want to read the hand. No, No. Don’t know where you are going. Going guided. And this is as a first dimension of our christian life: to shed. But, to shed what for? What an ascesis firm? No, don’t! To go to a promise. And this is the second. We are men and women who walk towards a promise, towards a meeting, towards something out of the earth, says to Abraham that we must receive as an inheritance».
«The journey begins every day in the morning; the way of entrusting yourself to the Lord, the way open to the surprises of the Lord, many times not good, many times gravespensemos in a disease, in a death but open, because I know that Thou shalt bring it to a safe place, to a land which Thou hast prepared for me: that is to say, the man on the way, the man who lives in a tent, a tent spiritual. Our soul, when it adapts too much, it installs too, it loses this dimension of go toward the promise and, instead of walking towards the promise, holds out the promise and possessing the promise. And this is not going, is not really a christian.»
